Vision and goals
Our mission
Future2 exists to support the financially under-privileged and to enable the financial planning profession, and others linked to it, to give back to the community from which they draw their livelihoods.
By 2015
Meeting in early 2010, trustees agreed a five year vision which seeks to:
- Develop relationships with the charities to which we have committed funds and support
- Build a framework for sound corporate governance to underpin a growing foundation
- Raise funds to establish a substantial capital base
- Raise awareness of Future2 within the financial planning profession, the wider financial services industry and the community at large
Some milestones
Future2 was the initiative of a small group of members of the Financial Planning Association, the peak professional body for financial planners in Australia. Their passion and commitment was instrumental in getting the foundation off the ground.
The FPA board gave its support to the proposed foundation in late 2006 and the FPA has assisted with set-up costs and in-kind support. Since its formal establishment in 2007, Future2 has worked to build its profile, to raise funds, and to make grants to community projects working with disadvantaged young Australians.
Facts about Future2
- Established by Trust Deed and granted fundraising authority by the NSW Office of Charities in April 2007
- Recognised by the ATO as a charitable fund exempt from GST and income tax in May 2007
- AMP makes $100,000 founding donation to Future2
- Status as a Deductible Gift Recipient confirmed by the ATO in November 2007
- First grants awarded in November 2007 and each year thereafter
- First emergency appeal for the Victorian Bushfires in February 2009, with funds of $70,000 raised, largely due to generosity of Genesys Wealth Advisers
