The people behind Future2
The Future2 Foundation is a charitable trust with deductible gift recipient (DGR) status, enabling donors to qualify for a tax deduction.
Youth is currently an area of special focus for Future2 grants. The Foundation is looking to provide grants to not-for-profit organisations with creative and effective approaches to supporting young Australians whose lives are disadvantaged by poverty, homelessness or drug dependence. Often these are projects without established sources of funds and which, with relatively small financial investment, have the capacity to put these young Australians on the road to fulfilling and productive lives.

The story of our name and logo
Future2's name was chosen to reflect the foundation's vision: to give a second chance and hope for a better future to Australians trapped in difficult financial circumstances.
Our logo is inspired by a very Australian hero: the desert wattle.
with a little support it grows in the most arid conditions:
| |
It flourishes out of disturbed soil |
| |
Its roots knit together the soil and encourage other plants to grow |
| |
It offers shade for other, and a beautiful flower |
| |
It is the most prolific plant in the Australian desert. |
The foundation of the financial planning profession
What makes Future2 different from any other foundation is its roots within the financial planning profession.
Future2 is a channel through which the financial planning profession and wider financial services industry can make a positive difference to the lives of those in need. Individuals and organisations can do this by:
| |
Making donations to Future2 or to specific projects supported by Future2 |
| |
Talking with clients about philanthropic giving through Future2 |
| |
Setting up a workplace giving program for employees |
| |
Identifying community projects deserving of Future2 support. |
Getting off the ground
Future2 was the initiative of a small group of members of the Financial Planning Association, the peak professional body for financial planners in Australia. Their passion and commitment was instrumental in getting the foundation off the ground.
The FPA board gave its support to the proposed foundation in late 2006 and since then the FPA has assisted with set-up costs and in-kind support. Since its formal establishment in 2007, Future2 has worked to build its profile, to raise funds, and to make grants to community projects working with disadvantaged young Australians.
